Bridal showers are meant for the dearest girl friends of the bride. Though the bride knows all the girls, it is not necessary that they know each other. If you don’t want your bridal shower to be a fragmented party, here are some great bridal shower games that help to break the ice. Play them at the beginning of the bridal shower.

Bridal Shower Game Icebreaker #1: Introducing I

Once all the guests have arrived get them to sit in a circle so that they can all see each other. Let the bride start the game by saying her name and an adjective describing herself. However, the adjective must begin with the same letter as the name. So the bride can say, “Hi I’m Susan and I’m Sweet”. The next girl has to introduce herself similarly AND add the bride’s introduction as well. So she says, “Hi, I’m Angela and I’m Assertive and this is Susan and she’s Sweet”. The next person introduces herself and the two before her and so on and so forth. It can be pretty difficult to remember all the names but everyone makes an effort so they end up remembering more than they otherwise would. Variation: You can also adapt the game to a theme shower by asking the girls to use adjective related to the theme. So for a garden theme party, Susan would be someone who loves Sunflowers and Grace could be someone who loves gardening.

Bridal Shower Game Icebreaker #2: Who Am I?

Make a set of ID cards with the names of famous ‘wives’. They could be actors, politicians, singers or anyone in the news. As each guest arrives at the bridal shower, tape the ID on her back so she doesn’t know who she is. The game is that everyone has to guess their own identity by asking others questions. The others only need to reply in a yes or a no. This is a great way to get your guests mingling. Variation: If you are having a theme bridal shower, use names of famous wives related to the theme. The famous wives don’t always have to be ‘real’ people. They could be famous fictional and cartoon characters as well.

Bridal Shower Game Icebreaker #3:

Ask all the guests to carry one piece of their underwear with them to the shower. Collect the underwear at the door and mix it up in a laundry bag. Make the bride remove one piece of underwear at a time and guess whom it belongs to. You’ll be surprised at what some of the girls are wearing and what some aren’t! The bride may also learn a few new things about friends she thought she knew well.

What would a bridal shower be without a few tears of emotion and happy sentiments? Whether it is the bride shedding a tear at all the love being showered upon her, or the bride’s mother at seeing her little girl all grown up. Here are some games that tell the bride how special she is. Keep a box of tissues and some waterproof mascara handy since everyone will be dabbing their eyes.

Sentimental Bridal Shower Game #1: Happy Memories

Get everyone to sit around in a circle so that they can all see each other and especially the bride. Then one at a time everyone states the first time they met the bride and what they remember of her. Or a cherished memory they have of times shared with the bride. The memory must be special and unique. This is a really great way to make the bride feel extra special on her bridal shower. However, be prepared for some tears!

Sentimental Bridal Shower Game #2: Candles & Wishes

Get a bunch of candles and give one to each guest. Make everyone stand in a circle with the bride in the center. Light the bride’s candle. As the bride stands in front of each guest, let her say something special to her. It could be a special message, best wishes or just good marriage advice. Once the person has finished the bride can light her candle. Once everyone’s candles have been lit you can all say a prayer for the bride to have a happy future. Variation: Instead of or along with lighting the candles you as the host of the bridal shower can also take a book and write down all the messages as each person is saying them. This becomes a great keepsake book for the bride for the years to come.

Sentimental Bridal Shower Game #3: Best Wishes Quilt

Try this game only if you are good at quilting or know someone who is and will do the job for you. Send each guest a request to make one square of a specific dimension for the bride’s quilt and get it to the shower. On the square they can paint, write or embroider a special message for the bride. They can also use ribbons, buttons and appliqués. Present each square to the bride at the bridal shower from all her friends. Then you as the host can take all the squares and make them into a quilt for the bride to use. Present it to the couple on their wedding day from all the bride’s friends. This will be a gift the bride will cherish forever!

It is but natural that the bride should be the center of attention at her bridal shower. To make the bride feel special and shower her with affection here are some games that revolve around the bride.

Bridal Trivia Bridal Shower Game #1: Know The Bride

In a spin off on the original game of Trivia, bridal trivia follows all the same rules except the questions are all about the bride. Make a list of 20 trivia questions about the bride – her favorite food, her favorite dinner place, the travel destination that tops her list of places to see and similar questions. The questions should be such that the answers may be known to her close friends but not necessarily. You could put in a couple of very obvious questions at the beginning just to get everyone in the mood of the game. Make copies of the list of questions. Get the bride to fill in one sheet, which is the master answer sheet and get all the guests to fill in answers that they think are correct. The guest with the most correct answers wins.

Bridal Trivia Bridal Shower Game #2: The Bride’s Courtship

If there’s one thing that will come up at the bridal shower it is how the bride and groom met and their love story. So why not play a game around it? Make a list of questions related to the bride and groom’s courtship. Where did the bride and groom meet? What was the bride’s first impression of the groom? Where did they go for their first date? How did the groom propose? Where did he propose? Where are they going for their honeymoon? Then get the girls to fill out the answers as per their knowledge. If someone doesn’t know the answer they can make a guess or put down something really funny instead. Read out the answers and let the bride tell her story.

Bridal Trivia Bridal Shower Game #3: Back In Time

This one looks really neat if done well. Make a list of major events in the bride’s life and the years they took place. You may need to consult with her mother or sister for details. Include things like year of birth, year of graduation, year of first kiss, year of college graduation, year of first date and the like. Make a dateline and put all the items in the order they occurred leaving the year blank. Let the guests fill in the year they think the event occurred in. You can make a large version of the dateline on good poster paper and decorate it for the bride to keep as a memory of the bridal shower and a keepsake.

The movies and media are swamped with reality TV couples, relationships and marriage related shows and films. Most women end up watching the popular relationship based sitcom and shows on television. So why not test their knowledge a bit? These games are also a great way to get a quick idea of who amongst the group of girls has loads of gray matter and who needs some help finding her way.

IQ Bridal Shower Game #1: Unscramble

Make a list of marriage and wedding related words like marriage, bridesmaid, husband, chapel, wedding vows etc. Scramble them and put them on a paper. Make copies of the list of scrambled words. Give each guest a list to unscramble. The guest who can unscramble the words fastest wins. Variation: For a theme bridal shower you can scramble words related to the theme.

IQ Bridal Shower Game #2: How Well Do You Know Your TV Couples

Make a list of 20 famous TV couples and put in just their last names. Give a copy of the list to all the guests at the bridal shower. The aim of the game is to put down the first names of the couples and the TV show that they starred in. A fun game that often leads to spirited discussions about the relationships shared by the fictitious couples.

IQ Bridal Shower Game #3: Then And Now

This one requires some effort on your part. Find photographs of famous couples in their youth and celebrating their 40th or 50th anniversaries. Mix up the photographs and ask the guests to match the correct photographs together. If finding photographs of famous couples is difficult, you could also ask the guests to bring along photographs of their parents’ wedding and a recent photo as well. It is great fun to see the bridal fashions that were in vogue 40-50 years ago.

IQ Bridal Shower Game #4: The Price Is Right

Collect a bunch of wedding related items and make a list of the price as well. You can pick items like favors, wedding cake topper, thank you notes, a veil, bridal bouquet etc. Put all the items on a tray and ask your guests to estimate the cost of each item. The person who comes closest to the actual cost of the items wins! Much tougher than you would imagine.

Women’s purses are like Pandora’s box. Once opened you never know what will come out! So why not get them to dig around and see what all they can find for the bride. Here are some great games that involve scavenger hunts.

Scavenger Hunt Bridal Shower Game #1: Loosen The Purse Strings

Make a list of 20 items that women generally carry in their purse – lipstick, lip-gloss, mascara, tissue, credit card, and car keys. Then throw in 5 wedding and relationship related items like wedding or engagement ring, a Hershey’s kiss, love note, ticket stubs from a movie date and the like. Add 2 really weird items related to your theme. So if you are having a beach bridal shower add a bikini and sun screen to the list. Or for an exotic Japanese bridal shower add chopsticks and kimono. If you are having a large party divide the girls into four or five groups else let everyone go at it alone. The person/persons who have the most items win! You’ll be surprised at what all comes out of the bags.

Scavenger Hunt Bridal Shower Game #2: Get The Bride To Church

This game requires a little more effort on your part. The idea is to create little ‘clues’ that you put around the house (or wherever you are having the bridal shower). Each clue points to another one and requires the girls to do something related to getting the bride to the church. So for example, the first clue could be “It’s time to get the bride dressed to get her to church so let’s find something old, and something new, something borrowed and something blue”. The girls need to find the four things and put them on the bride. The group who does this first gets points. Then the bride gives out the next clue – “My hand’s are free and empty, How about some flowers to make them pretty!” The girls need to hunt for a bridal bouquet that you have hidden around the house and give it to the bride to get the next clue. Depending on your creativity and the amount of time you have, go ahead and design your own scavenger clues.

Scavenger Hunt Bridal Shower Game #3: Man Hunt

This is great for co-ed bridal showers. Make a list of feminine things like mascara, nail file, compact, bra and tampon etc. Give the men at the shower the list and ask them to collect each item. The guy who gets all the items first wins! Couples generally have an edge over singles with this game. However, the singles don’t seem to mind the great way to meet each other. You can play it in the reverse as well and have the women do the scavenging.

Some bridal showers can be even more risqué than their counterpart bachelor parties. Here are ideas for great bridal showers that would have your girl friends and you painting the town red, purple and all colors in between. Saturday nights are the best nights for the following bridal shower games.

Risque Bridal Shower Game#1: Bar Hopping

This works best with a small group of 6-10 girls. You will need two cars and designated drivers for the night as well. Make a list of things the bride must collect from popular bars across the town. You could ask for a paper napkin from one bar autographed by ten single men, a shooter glass from another bar, 10 dollars the bride must collect as tips serving drinks to the people at the bar and so on. You can make it as naughty or as nice as you want. Label the bride, “Bride To Be” so everyone will know what’s happening and there will be no confusion. Buy a round for everyone at each bar and have fun!

Risqué Bridal Shower Game#2: Waitress Bride

Talk to the owner of a bar or club you frequent and set up the bridal shower there. Get a waitresses costume for the bride and make her play ‘sexy waitress’ for the night. Put a label saying “Bride To Be” so that everyone knows it’s only a game. Let the bride serve drinks, gather tips and in general play a friendly waitress to you guys and everyone else at the bar. Just make sure your bride is not too tipsy lest she decides to become a Coyote!

Risque Bridal Shower Game#3: Daring Divas

Make the bride dress up in a plain white tee shirt and sexy skirt or pants. Host the bridal shower at a popular club or bar and get the bride to gather as many best wishes or autographs as she can from all the single men present at the club – on her tee shirt! Make sure you put a label saying “Bride To Be” so everyone knows it’s only fun and games. You’ll be surprised at how nice the guys can be and how flirty the bride will get as the evening progresses. The tee shirt is a great keepsake for the bride as a reminder of the great bridal shower.

Note: As the hostess of the bridal shower, etiquette does not require you to sponsor the entire bridal shower at a bar or club. That can be pretty expensive. What is your responsibility however is to buy the entry for all the guests to the club, buy a round of drinks for everyone and give away some favors as a thank you.

Your mother may have told you to never play with your food, but surely a bridal shower can be the exception to the rule. No party is complete without great food and here are some games that will really have your guests talking about the delights they had!

Food Bridal Shower Game #1: Bridal Hot Dog

Get a belt and tie a long string or cord to the back of it. When all the guests arrive let the game begin. Give each player a raw hot dog. The person whose turn it is, should tie the loose end of the string to the hot dog and wear the belt so that the hot dog is just below her knees. Then set up a mousetrap on the floor. The objective of the game is to set of the mousetrap without getting the hot dog caught. Squatting over the mousetrap is the position that works best and is most embarrassing! If no one can complete the dare successfully, the person with the longest hot dog left wins.

Food Bridal Shower Game #2: Lick It Off

String a clothesline across the room and hang large powered donuts from it so that they hang just within reach of your mouth. Get all the guests to stand beneath their donuts with their hands behind their backs. When the timer goes off the girls have to start licking the sugar off the donuts without biting or breaking the donut. At the end of two minutes the donuts licked cleanest wins! This game will give you some great photo opportunities so be prepared with a camera in hand. This game also allows the hostess to participate along with the guests.

Food Bridal Shower Game #3: Balls Of Lemon

Put a lemon in each leg of a stocking and wrap it around the participant’s waist so that the lemons are dangling about 18 inches off the ground. Place a 1/3 full gallon soda bottle on the floor. The participant must swing her hips back and forth so that the lemon balls knock the soda bottle down. Whoever can do it in the least amount of time wins. This is a fantastic game filled with sexual innuendos. The swinging hips can arouse comments from suggestive to wild and lead to a lot of laughs.

Collage Bridal Shower Game #1: Find The Good Word

Make a list of 15 wedding and marriage related words. Get a bunch of magazines. Divide all the guests into 4 or 5 groups and give each group a list of the words and the magazines along with a blank paper. The group has to cut out letters from the magazines to make the words and paste them on the paper. The group that finishes pasting all the words first wins. Variation: If you are having a theme bridal shower, pick words related to the theme.

Collage Bridal Shower Game #2: Predict The Future

This one is a lot of fun. Divide the guests into 4 or 5 groups and give each group a blank paper and some magazines. Now assign a theme to each group on which they must create a collage. The themes are all related to the bride’s life after marriage like honeymoon, new home, children, romance after marriage and anniversary. The groups must create a collage that depicts what they think the bride’s life will be like after marriage in relation to their theme. So one group can create a collage that depicts what they think the bride’s honeymoon will be like. They can cut out pictures and words and make up a short story even! Once everyone has completed their collages, take the papers and paste them into a scrapbook and gift it to the bride. She will love the memoir from her bridal shower.

Collage Bridal Shower Game #3: Letter By Letter

Ask everyone present to write a letter to the bride. However, they must write the letter by cutting out letters and words from magazines and making a collage. You can divide the guests into groups or not depending on the size of the party. Also, you can specify certain things like the length of the letter, some words that have to be used like ‘love’, ‘sex’, ‘marriage’ and even a few weird ones like ‘hot dog’, ‘child’, ‘panty hose’. The letters end up being really funny. You can then take all the letters and paste them into a scrapbook to gift to the bride. She will love the reminder of a wonderful bridal shower. Variation: If you are having a theme party, make the guests create a letter or a recipe related to the theme.

Fooling around in the dark takes on a whole new meaning with these bridal shower games. You will need a blindfold for all them and some sporting guests with a great sense of humor. These games work well with any age group.

Blindfolded Bridal Shower Game #1: Lets Wash Some Dishes

Doing the dishes is a chore nobody really likes. So why not make it a little more fun? Get a pair of dish washing gloves and a blindfold. Start with the bride. Blindfold her and give her the gloves. The objective of the game is to wear the nylon gloves with the blindfold on. It can get pretty tricky and is even more fun with the guest misdirecting the bride. If you want to have a great laugh, note down everything the bride is saying while putting the gloves on and read it out loud later as, “The bride’s comments on her first night!” After the bride let all the guests have their turn at putting on the gloves. The one who puts the gloves on fastest wins.

Blindfolded Bridal Shower Game #2: Spoon The Balls

You will need a bag of cotton balls, a soup spoon, a pair of oven mitts, a bowl and a blindfold. Blindfold the bride and make her wear the over mitts. Then give her the soup spoon and spread all the cotton balls on the floor. The bride must kneel down and collect as many cotton balls as she can with the soup spoon and put them in a bowl. Give each guest a turn after the bride. The person who collects the most cotton balls wins. This is much tougher than you would think and with the girls egging the blindfolded person on a great chance for photos.

Blindfolded Bridal Shower Game #3: Darkroom Dressing

Ask all the guests to bring whatever they sleep in to the bridal shower. Most guests will think this is a game for the bride and will get really kinky or embarrassing stuff. Once they arrive, start the game by blindfolding all the guests and asking them to wear their night wear as fast as they can! The bride can be a spectator for once and enjoy the show while all the others struggle with whatever they brought for her to wear. Variation: In a different version of this game, the bride is actually asked to wear whatever the guests have brought for her while blindfolded. The lingerie is then gifted to the bride as part of her bridal shower gift.

While bridal showers were traditionally only for female friends of the bride, these days co-ed bridal showers or rather co-ed showers have become popular too. Instead of a bridal shower and a bachelor party, couples are often opting to go for a joint party thrown by both their friends.

Here are some great co-ed bridal shower games to get the party going!

Co-ed Bridal Shower Game #1: Find Your Groom

Get all the guys at the party to roll up their pant legs till their knees. Blindfold the bride and let her feel the knees. The game is for the bride to guess which one is her groom!

You need to ensure that the bridal couple would be absolutely ok with the game. You don’t want to be the cause of any misconceptions occurring later and God forbid The wedding being called off!

If necessary, run the game by the bride and groom and get their ok before you play it. Might even give them an excuse to practice.

Co-ed Bridal Shower Game #2: Guide The Groom ‘err Broom!

Get a roll of toilet paper and a broom with a long narrow handle that would fit inside the hole of the toilet paper. Pair up the guys and gals at the bridal shower to form couples. Or if it’s a large party just get the bride and the groom to play this one.

Blindfold the groom and ask him to hold the broom between his knees. Let the bride hold the toilet paper roll between hers. The groom needs to guide the broom into the hole of the toilet paper – with the verbal help of the bride of course – no touching allowed. The analogy of a wedding night in progress will have everyone in splits!

Co-ed Bridal Shower Game #3: Cinderella Bride

Pair all the people at the bridal shower so you have couples. Get all the women to give one of their shoes and take off the other one as well. Put one shoe from each pair in the center of the room. When the whistle blows, the men need to pick up the shoe that they think fits their partner and put it on her foot.

Most men don’t know which shoe is their wife’s. That creates for plenty of confusion and ruffled feathers! Even guys who do know their wife’s shoe find it difficult to pick the right one from amongst so many. And further yet, guys who pick shoes randomly cause problems for the rare, really observant man. Great fun to be had all round.
